Full Biography
James Pyo is a Senior Portfolio Manager on the Investment team of New Catalyst, where his primary responsibilities include the sourcing, valuation, diligence, structuring, negotiation, and execution of investments in addition to general partner value creation services.
James has over a decade of relevant experience, including most recently serving as a Director at Wafra Inc., where he was focused on Wafra’s strategic partnership mandates (Capital Constellation), completing and managing direct minority investments (e.g., GP seeding and GP stakes) in both established and next-generation asset management businesses, GP financings, private equity secondary transactions, co-investments and primary fund commitments. Previously, James was an Associate General Counsel at Millennium Management, LLC, where he was responsible for various fund formation and management company matters. James began his career as an associate in the investment management group of Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP.
James earned an AB in Physics and Philosophy from Dartmouth College and a JD from Cornell Law School.
